Si une image vaut 1000 mots, la musique en magnifie le sens.
Durant mon processus de création, en collaboration avec les réalisateurs, je m'efforce de mettre l'image au premier plan en soulignant actions, personnages, émotions ou symboles.
Recorded on July 28, 2024 at the Montreal Symphony Hall, this four-movement work allowed Roy Dubuc to explore several styles. He drew inspiration from modern composers such as Arvo Pärt, Charles Ives, and Bernard Herrmann. Fragments is the result of an accumulation of many short musical and fleeting ideas.

Created and recorded by the Orchestre de la Francophonie in 2023 at Salle Pierre-Mercure, Montreal.
Deux petits poèmes symphoniques
Composed in December 2021, “A Little Thing” is the composer’s very first jazz composition. Originally intended to serve as the theme for an animated short film, the piece was ultimately set aside for technical reasons. This project, inspired by the Cool Jazz of Miles Davis (1926–1991) and colored with bebop influences, would not have been possible without the contribution of the performers: Mathieu Lacroix (trombone), Patrick Duchesne (piano), Axel Bonnaire (drums), and Philippe Tanguay (electric bass). Recording assistance: Ismael Chagnon
Mixing: Mathieu Lacroix and Charles Roy Dubuc
Mastering: Mathieu Lacroix

''Dans une roue à hamster'' or ''In a Hamster Wheel''' is a minimalist work for electric guitar, trombone, vibraphone and alto saxophone. Composed and recorded in 2020, this work marks the composer’s first venture into the minimalist world. A true study of cyclical motion and temporal perception, the work explores the fundamental principles of minimalist writing: steady pulse, gradual phase shifts, and evolving loops.
Through this sonic mechanism, the listener is drawn into a hypnotic spiral where subtle rhythmic and harmonic transformations unfold without ever breaking the flow. Like a hamster running endlessly in its wheel, the music seems to move forward without destination, gradually revealing the beauty of motion itself — that of a closed system in perpetual transformation.
